Evaluation

Okay so the past few months I have spent modelling my very own 3D street using 3DS Max. I have also put alot of research and practise into this. For my research I have gone out into the streets, taken pictures of different textures, buildings and anything that can be found within a street. I have done this within the street behind the college, this way it seems more modern. Also after that I have also been searching images online on many different streets such as streets in Cardiff, also several different buildings within the area. I have also been practising by doing tutorials with the class, doing tutorials from youtube and been recreating certain buildings. I have practised putting a simple wall and floor together, then texturing them.

Some tutorials I have managed to do are textures for grass, I have also done a texture on rock which I was then able to modify into molten rock which may be useful in the future. I have also started to recreate an Egyptian themed model which I do think is coming along quite well. I have practised with the pyramids by doing the sections in my newest version, not just the simple pyramid shape, this has helped me too with putting buildings together, texturing and laying out the map. With the class I have done quite a few things, such as we have made a wired bin before. Also we have done loads of texture practising such as water, stone and wood, all which took little time to create.

For my final piece I have created a basic grass, road and concrete flooring and a few houses. I have also dotted trees around, because after my research, most streets usually have a few trees around the street every now and then. I have made a range of buildings, from a one bedroom flat to a three story building. I do think I have done well and I have really tried hard with this unit. I have really enjoyed it but what I would have done in future is spend more time on it at home, by staying home I would be able to accomplish more such as a whole new section of the street with more houses and plants, also I would have done more detailed textures of bricks and pavements if I had Photoshop at home. Although I am really pleased with some of my textures such as the grass, rock and molten rock textures. I know I can't fit the molten rock in my street but I do think it looks really detailed. The grass texture was the first texture on my own and I used many different tools I didn't know about, it was more of a help but came out really well.
